Sir,
Dr. U Chittaranjan was a very popular
doctor in Bhatkal. He had no enemies. He was an active RSS worker. Later
he had joined the BJP and became MLA of that constituency. All his political
opponents too were having very good rapport with him. Most of his patients
were from the minority community. But on April 10th, 1996 the doctor was
shot dead by unknown persons. The people were suspecting ISI involvement
in this murder. Till date the culprits were not booked and punished.
Justice K. Ramachandraih commission
of Inquiry has completed its work and submitted its report to the government.
The government is reluctant to act on the report. What is in the report?
Why it is kept under wrap is not known.
Here I suspect the sincerity of
the opposition parties in demanding the government to act on the report
at the earliest. If the Congress were the victim, it would not have allowed
the House to function till the government table the report. I urge the
opposition parties to switch over to agitating mood from the sleeping condition
at least in this case. One can not ignore the yeoman service rendered by
the Dr. Chittaranjan to the people as a doctor. His life was exemplary.
I hope the Krishna government does not wait for the opposition to make
noise on the floor of the House to take steps to act on the Ramachandraih
report at the earliest.
