Kozhikode, May 28 (UNI) - In another
case of ''desi- foreign'' nuptial relation in northern Kerala, a girl has
moved a local court in Kannur district, against her husband, who is an
Arab national, for allegedly harassing and cheating her after marriage.
Twentyfour-year-old K K Najma from
Champad near Thalassery filed a complaint against Mohammed Isa Hamudi (52),
hailing from the Sultanate of Oman, with the Additional Chief Judicial
Magistrate on Saturday last. The court taking cognizance of the complaint,
directed the Panur police to investigate the case and file a report.
In her complaint, Najma listed as
other accused one Azis Othayoth (45) and his sister Nazima from Nadapuram
in Kozhikode district for reportedly brokering the marriage with the Gulf
businessman.
Azis had introduced Hamudi to Najma
and their marriage was registered on February 14, 1999. He had also taken
Rs 25,000 as commission from Najma's family.
After the marriage, the couple had
stayed with Najma's family and that of Azis' for a month till Hamudi left
back for the Gulf promising that he would return with the visa to take
her along with him.
