INAUGURATES ITS CAMPUS
On September 8, 2001
The Hindu University of America,
which is incorporated in the state of Florida, and is authorized by the
Education Department, Florida to conduct Master and Doctoral Programs in
Hindu Studies acquired an over 12 acre of land in Orlando. The property
has two buildings.
The University has been conducting
'distant teaching program' and intensive courses for some time. Now
with a campus in Orlando, it is starting its programs at the new campus.
The inauguration of the campus, 113 Econlockhatchee Rd., (next to Valencia
Community College, East) Orlando, is scheduled on Saturday, the September
8, 2001.
The program starts with early morning
Ganesh and Saraswati Puja, followed by a function in which the Board of
Directors introduce their newly appointed faculty and the programs.
A number of eminent scholars and academics from India and USA are coming
for participation. There shall be an afternoon 'Academic Session'
in which University faculty, Directors and academics coming from different
places will interact with each other.
The faculty to be introduced are:
Professor Klaus Klostermaier, formerly
Professor of Hinduism, University of Manitoba, Canada, Professor Ram Karan
Sharma, former Vice chancellor of two Universities in India, and of the
Department, of South Asian studies, University of California, Berkeley,
Dr. Nidhi Mishra, Dr. Kailash Agarwal, formerly of Brown University.
In addition to academic courses,
the University will rum classes on Yoga and Meditation under the expert
guidance of Swami Lalitananda of Andhra Pradesh, India.
