Andrew Foss, president of the British Association of  Astrology, has no doubts the subject  should be introduced as a course in Indian universities. On a lecture  tour of India, he told audiences, "We have already introduced it  in four universities in the UK. Even in the US two out of three institutions  teaching astrology are credited." Foss, who has taught Vedic science  for 25 years, also believes there are "common features underlying  astrology and physics".

Significantly, he has also developed Vedic astrology software for analysing  kundalis (birth charts). As for people looking up to it for material benefits,  he says that in the face of adversely placed planets an individual "worshipped  and prayed" to such planets in order to make friends with them. This "shanti" minimised the ill-effects of a malefic planet.
