Pakistanis residing in the United
States have announced complete boycott of the Indian television channels
and blacklist the Pakistani artists performing for the Indian networks.
The decision to this effect was
taken at a meeting of the Pakistani community here.
The meeting passed a resolution
asking the Pakistan government not to issue non-objection certificates
to the Pakistani artists to intend to perform in the Indian sponsored show
in the US.
The meeting was mainly organised
by Sadiq Chaudhry and Bashir Qamar.
Addressing the meeting the speakers
including Mujib Lodhi, Faiq Siddiqi, Shafiq Siddiqi, Dr Fahim Butt, Imtiaz
Rahi, Asghar Chaudhry, Sardar Chaudhry, Abbas Raza Shah, Syed Zahid Shahbaz,
Waqas Ahmed, Niaz Joya, Asif Baig, Aziz Butt, Inamullah, Shafiq ul Hassan
Sheikh, Ashraf Chaudhry, Iqbal Khokhar, Maqbool Khan, Rana Saeed and Ali
Baig said that boycott of the Indian culture was need of the hour and will
continue of permanent basis.
They contended that the boycott
should not be limited to the Indian networks and cultural shows but be
also implemented on shops and stores run by the Indians.
They pledged to identify themselves
as Pakistanis and unite under one banner.
It may be added that on June 29
a grand Indian cultural show is planned in New York.
The "Bollywood Awards" would also
feature Pakistani actresses Reema and Meera.
The meeting of the Pakistani community
decided that if the two Pakistani artists performed in the show they would
be black listed and not allowed to perform in any Pakistani show thereafter.
