The Sirajdikhan thana police on
November 13 rescued the tortured girl, Shuva Dutta. daughter of Mongal
Dutta from Pauldia village in Sirajdikhan upazila and kept her under safe
custody.
Police recorded the case filed by
the mother of Shuva on the same day and took security measures for the
minority family. Police with the permission from the court had the medical
test of Shuva completed on November 17.
President of Human Rights Congress
for Bangladesh Minority (HRCBM) Advocate of the Supreme Court Rabindra
Ghush and Human Rights activist Zakir Hossain visited the village on November
17 and made video record of the statements of the villagers and the parents
of the victim. They also took a snap of Shuva Dutta (16).
Advocate Rabindra Ghush told the
correspondent that the matter would be placed before the International
Human Rights Congress.
It is to be noted that a youth of
the village Faruk Mollah on the plea of his love to Shuva Dutta eloped
with her and compelled her to engage in sex-work for seven months.
Shuva Dutta managed to flee from
the den of the miscreants. But a vested interest of the village in the
name of settling the matter pocked Tk one lakh realised from Faruk as fine
and made a plan to send the family to India.
