The City Police arrested a cellular
phone merchant, Mohammed Kalidh of Ukkadam area, and an auto driver, Sahul
Hameed, on Sunday on charges of murdering an 18-year-old college girl,
Nandini.
According to police, Kadirvel, a
head constable with the City Police, had preferred a complaint stating
that his daughter was missing since October 2. Even as efforts were on
to trace the girl, the special police teams stumbled on an auto-driver
who reportedly confessed to having driven the vehicle "that was hired by
Mohammed Kalidh for bringing the body from a house in Kovaipudur and disposing
it in Sundarapuram".
The body was concealed in a bedding
and loaded onto the auto. "When I questioned them about the foul smell,
Kalidh and his friends threatened to kill me," the auto driver told the
police. According to police, investigations revealed that the girl was
abducted and killed by Kalidh after she reportedly refused to marry him.
A special team has been formed to
nab three other accomplices of Kalidh.
