In the wake of growing public outrage
and mounting pressure, the Patna police finally filed an FIR against the
notorious nephew of ruling party RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav and his men
on Monday in connection with the firing on three persons over an extortion
demand in the Rajabazar locality of Patna.
Mr Yadav's nephew Nagendra Rai and
his men are reported to be absconding. The case has been registered at
the Shastri Nagar police station on the basis of the statement given by
the three injured persons.
The victims Zishan, Chhotu and Ashraf
had received bullet injuries when Rai along with his gun-toting men attacked
them on Saturday while they were sitting on a dharna. The residents of
the Raja Bazar were protesting the extortion demand and assault on one
of the businessmen of the area, Mohammad Firoz allegedly made by Mr Yadav's
nephew and his men.
Mohammad Firoz, had allegedly refused
to pay the money demanded by Rai.
Police sources said, earlier two-counter
FIRs were also lodged in the Shastri Nagar police station on the basis
of the statements of Javed and Ezajul, father of Firoj.
Raids are on to nab the absconding
Rai and the other accused.
