Six women, including two minor girls,
were raped and 14 villagers injured by insurgents of banned National Liberation
Front of Tripura (NLFT) at remote Paisyarampara in Dhalai district, police
today said.
Police said a group of about 15
insurgents clad in olive green fatigue and armed with sophisticated weapons
raided the village on Thursday night at about 8 p.m. A villager was ordered
to cook for them and after the meal, the ultras made the villagers assemble
at a place.
Police said the ultras then induced
a few girls to dance before them and after some time ordered all the villagers
to lie down and beat the male members with batons.
One Gunachitta Chakma, a supporter
of ruling CPI-M, was beaten to death and fourteen others were severely
injured, police said.
The ultras then raped six women
including two minor girls, police said adding that in the orgy even girls
were not spared before their mothers and wives before their husbands.
Police said the rape victims and
the 14 injured were admitted to Chhamanu Subdivisional Hospital and DIG
of Police, Madan Mohan and SP Raja Murugan rushed to the spot with a big
contingent and launched combing operation there.
Official sources said Rs 500 was
given to the affected as initial assistance.
