PUNE CIVC BODY SPRUCES UP ROADS,
CLEARS GARBAGE, REASON: KALMADI'S SON IS GEETING MARRIED
Thanks to the wedding of Suresh
Kalmadi's son, Sumeer, the village of Gorhe Khurd is rejoicing. Host to
the Congress MP's sprawling guest house, Jalsimha, this village of about
1,000 residents is witnessing the true meaning of development. And that
too on the fast track.
For, even though it lies beyond
the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Public Works Department
(PWD) trucks and earthmovers are working overtime to level the road, BSNL
workers are busy fixing phone wires and others are clearing garbage.
Sumeer's wedding will be held in
the sprawling Panshet Road farmhouse where he'll marry Rajkumari Nanditaraje
of the royal Patwardhan family of Miraj. And all for the 100-odd VIP guests
expected on November 28.
At Mukainagar, two dumpers are standing
in queue-one belonging to the PMC, while the other hired for it. A kilometer
ahead, five more dumpers are seen.
At Gorhe Khurd, a group of labourers
are filing up potholes, courtesy the PWD. The supervision explains they
have been instructed to finish work as early as possible.
At the entrance of Jalsimha. BSNL
officials are supervising work to ensure all phonelines were in order and
connected to a control room inside Jalsimha.
Almost half a-kilometer away, dumpers
are unloading debris to build two helipads. Sources said a chartered plane.
Carrying VVIPs from New Delhi is scheduled to land at Lohegaon airport
at 9.45am on Sunday. And since they won't make it to the venue on time
by road, a helicopter will fly them.
