Press Release
"It is with deep regret that Datuk
A.Vaithilingam, President Malaysia Hindu Sangam, resigns from the
Executive Committee of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism,
Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism (MCCBCHS). Datuk Vaithi has already
tendered his resignation on December 1, 2004 but the MCCBCHS did
not accept it and appealed to the Central Council of Malaysia Hindu
Sangam (MHS) to urge him withdraw his resignation. The Central Council
met on January 21, 2005. After hearing the explanation from him,
the Council unanimously accepted the decision to resign. The meeting
also decided that the MHS will withdraw from the MCCBCHS if the Christian
partners do not respect the existence of the Hindu Community in Malaysia.
A call was made to immediately stop the unethical methods of lies
and falsehoods preached to non-Christians about their respective
religions. The Malaysia Hindu Sangam will soon be meeting the Buddhist
and Sikh partners to explain his stand. The Taoists leaders will
also be meeting the MHS leaders soon on this issue."
