The military operation also started in Dera
Bugti after security forces launched a raid on Farrari Camp that continued
for hours, confirmed a government official on Saturday.
DCO Dera Bugti Abdus Samad Lasi informed The
Nation that some miscreants had fired rockets on the security forces from
a Farrari Camp in Bakar Area of Dera Bugti. He said helicopters were called
in to support the ground forces, adding the camp was destroyed during the
operation. He refused to give details about the causalities suffered by both
sides. The sources said Cobra gunship helicopters and fighter jets flew a
number of sorties during the operation that lasted till late evening. The
Frontier Corps and ground forces from Barkhan, the adjoining district, also
participated in the operation.
Political Secretary of Nawab Akhbar Bugti
claimed that reportedly 20 persons mostly women and children were killed and
around 80 others were injured.
A report from Kohlu area said that Marri tribesmen
fired five rockets on the Frontier Corps camp in Kahan Town. However, the
rockets missed the target and landed at a desolate place.
Separately, some miscreants carried out an
attack on Frontier Corps camps in Mund Area.
In other violence, two bombs exploded in Mustung
and Kharan, but did not cause any damage. A bomb planted along the wall of
police station exploded in Mustung, while another bomb exploded in a dustbin
in Kharan town.
Meanwhile, spokesman of security forces has
claimed that around 6 Farrari camps have been destroyed in Kohlu Area and
a huge cache of arms has been seized abandoned by the miscreants.
He declared that there were out of 13 Farrari
camps in Kohlu Area where terrorists were being imparted training six have
been destroyed including Wadh, Sia Giri, Tratani, Habspur and Jabber.
He denied civilians were targeted during the
operation. He said media team would be taken to the area where innocent people
were kept detained.
Meanwhile, internet and cellular network,
which broke down on Friday, have been restored.
The railway track of Quetta-Zahidan, which
was blown up near Koshak on Friday evening, was also restored on Saturday.
On the other hand, head of Jamhoori Watan
Party Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti has said that military operation had been initiated
in Dera Bugti under a well thought plan. He said the operation could not stop
Balochis from waging struggle for their rights.
Talking to a group of newsmen on telephone
on Saturday from Dera Bugti, Nawab Bugti said that civilian population in
Peekal area of Bakar in Dera Bugti was targeted.
In a related development joint opposition
in Balochistan assembly decided to requisite assembly session to discuss military
operation and the issue of Kalabagh Dam.
This was declared by the leader of opposition
in Balochistan assembly Kachkool Ali advocate during a press conference in
his chamber in assembly building on Saturday.
