Terrorists shot dead four teenagers in Poonch
and left a middle-aged woman and her daughter injured in a post-midnight strike
in this border district of Jammu region.
Terrorists barged into two houses in Magnar
village and fired indiscriminately on the sleeping families. The houses belonged
to Ashok Kumar and Mangu, and despite the fact that there is an village defence
committee in Magnar, no one came to the rescue of the two Hindu families.
Apparently assuming that they had killed everyone
in the two houses, the terrorists also knocked at several other doors. The
terrorised villagers, even VDC members, hid in their houses and dared not
open their doors. It was raining heavily in the area and the terrorists ran
away into the dense forests after the massacre.
It was only in the wee hours that the villagers
came out and found the dead bodies of Mangu's daughters Monika and Priyanka.
His wife Sunita and youngest daughter, five-year-old Kamini had suffered bullet
injuries but were still alive. In Ashok Kumar's house, adjacent to Mangu's,
his sons Lokesh and Pankaj also lay in a pool of blood.
A contingent was sent to the village after
the villagers told the police on Thursday and a search operation launched.
This is the third major attack against Hindus in Jammu in last two months.
