If it's tourists on one hand, it's Hindus
on the other. Terrorists shot dead four teenagers in Poonch district and left
a middle-aged woman and her daughter injured in a post-midnight strike in
this border district of Jammu region.
Late on Wednesday, a group of terrorists barged
into two houses in Magnar village and Tired indiscriminately on the sleeping
families. The houses belonged to Ashok Kumar and Mangu, and despite the fact
that there is a village defence committee in Magnar, no one came to the rescue
of the two Hindu families.
The terrorised villagers, even VDC members,
hid in their houses and dared not open their doors. It was raining heavily
in the area and the terrorists ran away into the dense forests after the massacre.
It was only in the wee hours of morning that
the villagers came out and found the dead bodies of Mangu's daughters Monika
and Priyanka. His wife Sunita and youngest daughter, five-year-old Kamini,
had suffered bullet injuries but were alive. In Ashok Kumar's house, adjacent
to Mangu's, his sons Lokesh and Pankaj also lay in a pool of blood.
This is the third major attack targeted against
Hindu minorities in the Jammu region in last two months.
