All England hopes in the World Cup and Wimbledon
have been dashed. And following the World Cup defeat many angry British football
fans threw away the St George flags that adorned their cars before the start
of the World Cup.
But St George seems to be faced with a totally
different problem. His dragon-slaying heroics which have kept legend alive
for centuries are under threat from the none other than the Church of England,
which is considering rejecting England's patron saint. Why? Simply because
the hero's image is too warlike and may offend Muslims.
Surely it's left you wondering what St George
had to do with offending Muslims. Politically correct Britain, bent on crossing
all limits, now finds that the saint became an English hero during the crusades
against the Muslim armies that captured Jerusalem in the 11 century.
I simply cannot understand what is happening
to this country and, like me many are getting disillusioned by this drive
for appeasement. Minority communities have the freedom to celebrate their
own cultures, so why should the British feel guilty doing the same?
How far will they go to wipe out St George
from British minds? Whatever happened to the philosophy of live and let live?
