An Achiever without publicity

An Achiever without publicity

There is a terrible greed among leaders for publicity along with power and supremacy. These people are constantly struggling to get their name or photographs in the newspapers. Only for publicity, measures from launching a movement to making a show of social work are resorted to. Still there are leaders whose name hardly shines in the newspapers. But their achievements are phenomenal. When talking of CMs, immediately names of Narendra Modi of Gujarat, Vilasrao of Maharashtra, Badal of Punjab, Gulam Nabi Azad, Bhattacharya of Bengal, Karunanidhi of Tamilnadu, Mulayam Singh of Uttar Pradesh etc. will come to your mind. But if we say Dr Raman Singh, you will have to scratch your head to remember of which State he is the CM. About 3 and half years back, when BJP won Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and also Chhattisgarh, suddenly his name had come forward for chief ministership. Before and afterwards there was no noise about the name of Ramansingh. His name did not come into limelight either for good or bad things. Ajit Jogi, his predecessor, on the contrary, could never remain without limelight for a day. Had he provided attention to the work and people's wishes, Congress would not have been forced to lose the power there.

But it could not be so. While getting publicity for itself and for Jogi, Congress lost the power in Chhattisgarh. However, Raman Singh who succeded him, has remained away from TV and Cameras and yet the work done by him has been taken note of on international level. This state with majority of Adivasis i.e. a state of backward people is taking strides of progress. Hence only, United Nations' award for the "best nation achieving capacity creation and participation" is going to be bestowed on this State. This award is for developing capacity for progress among the backward community. While enjoying power as a leader from backward class, Ajit Jogi could not achieve this level. But Dr Ramaningh has achieved this goal after being jeered at as a white-collared leader of backward state. The distribution ceremony will take place in June in New York. Chhattisgarh was selected after surveying the various schemes in 39 states in the world.
