Bangalore tops the list of terror hubs in
Karnataka. The antiterrorist cell classified the state into two zones. Bangalore
falls in Category I as a hub for terrorists from Pakistan and Bangladesh.
B'lore's brush with terror:
o Aug 1991: Assailants of former PM Rajiv
Gandhi gunned down
o Jul 2000: Blasts in a church at J J Nagar
and a car explosion executed by members of nowbanned Deendar Anjuman
o Sept 2002: Five terrorists from Tamil Nadu
gunned down
o Nov 2002: LTTE rebels arrested and a huge
cache of arms and ammunitions seized from them. Of the 15 accused, 12 were
arrested
o Dec 2005: Attack on Indian Institute of
Science. Prof M C Puri from Delhi killed
