Amidst allegations about the lack of alertness
of the Kerala Police in follwing up on the cases relating to terrorist operations,
the Madhya Pradesh Police on Saturday said that the Kerala Police had not
so far contacted them even after they had arrested three SIMI leaders who
had participated in the training camp the extremists had held at Vagamon hill
resort in Idukki district in December last.
The MP Police pointed out that the Kerala
Police could interrogate the arrested ultras if they so desired. Pawan Srivastava,
head of the anti-terror squad of the Madhya Pradesh Police, sent a letter
to Kerala Director General of Police Raman Srivastava, making this clear.
He said in Bhopal that a fax message would be sent to the Kerala DGP on the
matter.
Srivastava also said special probe teams from
Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajastan, and Andhra Pradesh had reached Madhya Pradesh
to interrogate the arrested SIMI extremists. The three SIMI leaders arrested
in Madhya Pradesh, and who had taken part in the camp at Vagamon, were Sasdar
Nagori, Qayamuddin Kapadia and Malayalee Shibili Peediyekkal.
It was the Gujarat Director General of Police
who had first confirmed the reports that SIMI had held high-altitude training
camp at Vagamon in December last. After this, several squads from Kerala Police
had held inquiries at Thangalppara, Vagamon, but reports said that they had
not been able to get any conclusive evidences.
