Introduction: Accused alleged to have paid tantrik Rs 58,000 to kill rival
BJP MP Dinu Solanki through balck magic
Five relatives of a Congress MLA who allegedly
paid a local tantrik to kill a sitting BJP MP through black magic have been
arrested. The five men, all said to be related to Kodinar MLA Dhirsinh Barad,
were nabbed after they beat up the tantrik and allegedly attempted to abduct
him as the black magic failed to bring any harm to Junagadh MP Dinu Solanki.
"Five persons - Bharat Mori, Duda Parmar,
Jeena Dabhi, Anil Dabhi and Chandu Dabhi - were arrested on Thursday for attempting
to kidnap Manmohangiri Shivagiri, mahant of the Dharapadi Khodiyar temple
in Dhari," said A P Patel, investigating officer and Dhari PSI.
"Manmohangiri, in his complaint, has
said that he was paid Rs 58,000 by Bharat Mori to kill Solanki through black
magic. Mori was enraged when the black magic did not work and wanted to kidnap
him," said Patel. Mori, however, has denied the charges.
Mori is the brother of Barad's daughter-in-law and has an ice factory in Kodinar.
Solanki, before becoming Junagadh MP, held the Kodinar Assembly seat for four
consecutive terms.
Solanki claimed Mori had been after his life
for years. "Years back, I had defeated Bharat's grandfather in the Devdi
Gram Panchayat elections. At that time, Mori's men had attacked my elder brother,"
he alleged.
The Barad and the Solanki groups share a history
of political rivalry in a bid to maintain clout over mining and transport
businesses in coastal Junagadh.
