The BJP reacted strongly to the Shivraj Patil committee's claims saying it
was an attempt to bail out A Raja. It said that it was proud of its achievements
in "revolutionising" the telecom sector and that it would comprehensively
respond after going through the contents of the report.
"However, this whole attempt is also designed to bail out Raja and the
illegalities committed by him. The NDA has nothing to hide. We have ourselves
said that let JPC examine every allocation from 1998 itself," BJP spokesperson
Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The BJP reiterated that its policy not only resulted in sharp decline in
call charges, but the number of players gave more money to the Government
than licence fee because of its revenue sharing system.
