Introduction: Message from Amma (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi) to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (Board Meeting in Kerala, Kochi. December16, 2011

Amma is very happy to learn that the All India Pracharak Sabha of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad is being held in Ernakulam. Amma is praying that this yajna is successful in its efforts.

Hindu Dharma is the oldest and the most evolved culture in the world. It has provided us with so many teachings and principles that have lead to the goodness and prosperity of society as a whole. Although these principles are ancient, they remain ever new and modern as well. It is a religion that deeply explores every aspect of the relationship between human beings, Nature and God. Principles such as dharma and yajna are gifts with which Hinduism has blessed the world. Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu (May all beings live in peace and harmony) and atmavat sarvabhutani (The Self shines in all beings) are some of the teachings that our ancient rishis have taught and practiced in their lives.

During its long history, Hindu Dharma has had to face many severe obstacles, but they have all been overcome. There have been periods wherein its followers have fallen victim to laziness, lethargy and self-deprecation. During such times great acharyas and mahatmas have extended their hands to help society overcome these weaknesses. It is due to their efforts that Hinduism continues to shine in today's world as a priceless treasure.

The challenges Hinduism has had to face in recent times are not few. Ignorance regarding its principles is pulling our society backwards. The only lasting solution to this problem is to educate society about Hinduism's teachings and to help people cultivate spiritual values. In particular, we need focus on the education of the younger generation. This has to start at home. Parents must put in effort towards this end. This ancient culture should adapt itself with the demands of the changing times and then surge ahead.

Through wisdom, unity, fearless action and pragmatism, we can overcome any obstacle. This culture can shine down upon the world with the splendour of the sun. May God's grace be there always. May all beings live in happiness and peace. May this Pracharak Sabha be successful in all its future endeavours. Amma offers these words to the Paramatman.

Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma)
