On the coal minister denying links to a coal block allottee
It was advertising legend David Ogilvy who said: “The consumer is not a moron, she is your wife.” Someone should have paraphrased that for India’s coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal, replacing consumer with voter.
No one seems to have done that. So, after the Central Bureau of Investigation named Manoj Jayaswal of the Abhijeet Group in its complaint regarding irregular allotment of captive coal blocks, the minister denied that he was associated with Jayaswal at all.
Then, after Times Now television channel produced documents showing that Jayaswal had named the minister an arbitrator in his fight with his brothers, the coal minister said this was done without his knowledge. It is unclear as to how he was named arbitrator if he didn’t know about it or indeed, if he didn’t know Jayaswal well. That’s as brazen as it gets and it leaves Jaiswal with only one option: to go.
