A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made news in Pakistani media, the Congress party leaders are in the news for calling the Indian Army's surgical strikes in PoK fake.

A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made news in Pakistani media, following his remarks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the Congress party today was in the news for calling the Army’s operation ‘fake’.

Congress leader from Maharashtra Sanjay Nirupam had claimed on Tuesday that the Modi government faked the surgical strikes for electoral gains. Before him, Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Anand Sharma and P Chidambaram had also made controversial remarks over the surgical strikes.

Pakistani media lapped up the Congress leaders’ remarks. In a front page news item titled ‘Indian Congress also demands evidence of surgical strike’, the Pakistan Observer also mentioned Arvind Kejriwal, while reporting about the remarks by Nirupam and Sharma. It said: “Just a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned the authenticity of India’s ‘surgical strike’ claims, another Indian politician has demanded credible evidence of the incident from the Indian government.”

NEW DELHI: Days after the Indian government claimed its troops carried out surgical strikes by crossing the Line of Control to hunt terrorists in Azad Kashmir, Indian opposition parties on Tuesday asked for proof.
---------------------------------

The Dawn reported: “Senior Congress leaders said variously there were doubts in the public mind, not the least because of Pakistan’s denial, and sought clarification with proof that strikes did in fact take place. The government has responded by accusing the questioners of insulting India’s ‘valiant soldiers’.”

Reporting about statements of Kejriwal and Congress, The Express Tribune said: “The party’s (Congress) demand for credible evidence of ‘surgical strikes’ coincides with international suspicions being raised on India’s claim which is remains shrouded in mystery.”

Daily Times Pakistan said, “Senior Indian politicians lash out at their government over their claims of ‘surgical strike’ carried out inside Pakistan and demanded its evidence, a local news channel reported on Tuesday. The Indian government has failed to come up with a rational answer to the questions of proof of the surgical strike.”

Meanwhile, an extensive report in the Indian Express today showed surgical strikes by India were not fake.

The IE report said the bodies of those killed in surgical strikes were loaded in trucks for secret burial in PoK.
