Open Letter To Col (retd) V K Thapar, father of Capt. Vijayant Thapar.

Respected Sir,

I am writing to you to seek your forgiveness as a common Indian citizen.

You are a retired soldier. You once donned the olive uniform to defend this nation from external enemies. You served the nation for 37 long years. Your son, Capt Vijayant Thapar followed in your footsteps and joined the Indian Army.

Your son laid down his life in the Kargil war, after taking the 4,700 Peak in the Drass sector. He was just 22. At that age, most civilian kids are still thinking about what career to choose. Your son gave up his life so these kids could have the luxury of that choice.

In his last letter that he wrote to you, Capt. Vijayant Thapar said ‘I have no regrets. In fact, even if I become a human again, I will join the army and fight for the nation.’ He had written that letter moments before he set out for his final assault. For his bravery, your son was rewarded the Vir Chakra.

In his last letter, your son also had asked you to come and see the place where ‘the Indian army fought for your tomorrow’.

To honour his last wish, you climbed 16,000 feet to the place where he fought his final battle. You did this annual pilgrimage for ten long years. It was a 68 year old father’s homage to his 22 year old son, but more than that, it was a soldier’s homage to another soldier.

Sir, I seek your forgiveness on behalf of ordinary patriotic citizens of this country. You son gave up his today so that a nation full of ungrateful wretches like Karan Johar and Salman Khan could sit safe in their AC homes in Mumbai and pontificate about art.

The other day, some tuppenny actress with a fake American accent accused YOU, of screeching on live TV. I thought she was the worst Bollywood could produce. But no, turns out she was a paragon of virtue compared to a despicable odious turd in human shape who goes by the name of Om Puri.

This worm Puri came to a studio discussion punch drunk and insulted you in a manner I was deeply ashamed to even listen to. I sincerely wish this Puri person had been present at the Taj that fateful evening on 26/11.

Sir, I cannot even BEGIN to say how deeply ashamed I am, of people like this turd Om Puri. It is a shame that India calls people like him ‘stars’. He should be socially ostracised for his conduct.

Sir, sometimes I think, this nation does not deserve people like your son. I don’t know what men like him are made of, that they would give up their lives so that creepozoids like Om Puri can peddle their mediocre ‘art’ comfortably sitting in their homes in Mumbai.

Sir, I cried today when I saw the video of that show. Those were not tears of sorrow. Those were tears of shame, and of anger.

If possible, sir, please forgive us, the wretched citizens of this nation, who are so quick to venerate false heroes, and eager to forget the REAL ones.

A nation that does not honour its heroes, does not deserve to be free.
