Why did RaGa rake up Sahara Diaries again, when the SC has refused to look at them?
At last Rahul Gandhi came out with his damp squib of a re-hashed and judicially failed Sahara-Birla Diaries. From October onwards the Lutyens’ gang was targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi with this cooked up diary entries. Clearly this happened with help from certain quarters in his own party and perhaps some officials of Finance Ministry and Income Tax were aiding the Lutyens’ gang of Liberals and the Left working under the blessings of Sonia Gandhi. Drag him down to the mud where we all are, seems to have been the motto.
Someone in Congress must have induced Rahul Gandhi to make a curious claim on the morning of December 14 that he had earth shaking documents against Modi.
As no media dared to publish the cooked up Sahara-Birla diaries, first Jethmalani and then Prashant Bhushan’s shoulders were used to fire these allegations against Modi. Then clever Arvind Kejriwal used Delhi Assembly floor to air this allegations to avoid possible defamation. All their hopes were dashed when on November 25, the Supreme Court Bench headed by Justice J S Khehar rejected the diary entries. December 14 afternoon was fixed for the next hearing.
Someone in Congress must have induced Rahul Gandhi to make a curious claim on the morning of December 14 that he had earth shaking documents against Modi. Senior Congress leaders admit that young leaders in the Rahul coterie may have made him to believe that Supreme Court in the afternoon would take some action. Their hopes were dashed even as Bhushan put up a fight with the Judges, asking the Chief Justice nominee to recuse himself from this case and the case was adjourned to the third week of January in 2017.
Senior Congress leaders who are also lawyers such as Kapil Sibal warned Rahul Gandhi about raising the issue but Rahul was adamant and went ahead with the young managers and repeated the failed allegations of Prashant Bhushan. Not surprisingly, this re-hashed non-news item has got wide publicity.
Birla diaries surfaced in 2013 during the UPA tenure when P Chidambaram was Finance Minister. Sahara diaries surfaced in November 2014 during Arun Jaitley’s tenure in Finance Ministry. Both were found during the Income Tax raids and interestingly never a Finance Minister’s name was seen in such doubtful diaries while name of every who-is-who in the country surfaced in these loose sheets.
Why did the Finance Ministry officials including Jaitley allow Income Tax officers to put their seals and signatures on these prima-facie bogus Sahara papers?
The raid at a Sahara staffer’s office in Ghaziabad was conducted by the then Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chief K V Chowdhary. He was also involved in Birla raids too. Chowdhary, who allegedly enjoys the patronage of Chidambaram and Jaitley is now the Central Vigilance Commissioner. It is a known fact Chowdhary had shown all these diaries to the Finance Ministers, to whom he was reporting directly. In this context, Dr. Subramanian Swamy’s tweet after Rahul’s allegations is noteworthy.
Here are two questions. First: Why did the Finance Ministry officials including Jaitley allow Income Tax officers to put their seals and signatures on these prima-facie bogus Sahara papers?
Second: How did it get leaked?
This is a warning signal to Narendra Modi. There is a Trojan Horse in his Government. We wrote about this once before too.
