The controversy surrounding the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Padmavati has now seen a former royal enter the fray.
'Princess' Diya Kumari, who hails from 'the Royal family of Jaipur', and who is a BJP MLA from Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, said in a Tweet:

Padmavati has been in mired in controversy for months for alleged distortion of historical facts and more specifically, for an intimate dream sequence between Rani Padmavati (portrayed by Deepika Padukone) and Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh).
Shortly after issuing her tweet, Diya Kumari spoke LIVE and exclusively to Republic TV where she said:
Rani Padmavati is the epitome of supreme sacrifice and valour for not only Rajput community but for the entire country. Any distortion about her story is not acceptable or tolerated by anybody unless it's factually correct.
She added that it must not be let go off just because it's a movie as it's based on a historical character.
