Extremely disappointing to see someone like @surjitbhalla ignore facts, history, and experience & give in to the usual cliches in plugging for normalisation of relations with an abnormal country like Pakistan. As someone who studies data for analysis, here is a reality check 1/n

People to people: India used to give over 3 lakh visas at one time. How has that worked out in giving paks “a better sense of India”? Has it created a constituency for peace? Has it altered their perceptions of India? Answer is it’s had zero impact 2/n

The IMF has not shut doors because Pakistan is a terrorist state but because they have used loans as income and refused to reform. If Dr Bhalla thinks IMF loan will wean away Pakistan from China, he clearly has not been studying the relationship closely or is being misled by 3/n

some duplicitous Punjabi Pakistani who is selling him a sob story of how paks are being forced into a Chinese embrace. We have been playing cricket with Pakistan for decades. It was during this time that Pakistan created and exported terrorism into India, or has Dr Bhalla 4/n

forgotten it all? Does he seriously think paks will decimate LeT JeM etc if we start playing cricket with them? India has always taken the lead in trying to normalise relations with Pakistan only to be rudely rebuffed by the radicalised islamised Pakistan. There is nothing 5/n

brotherly about Pakistan. Don’t get beguiled by the insincere professions of friendship in Punjabi by these guys. Please shed this Mother India complex of trying to rescue Pakistan. Get real. Don’t fritter away the advantage because of silly Punjabi nostalgia. 6/n
